NEW YORK FASHION WEEK SS19 TENDENCY RECAP

This NYFW 2018 was a huge success, I literally had a blast. It was my third time going there, but my first invited as a blogger, and I enjoyed every bit of it.  The atmosphere was a delight; everybody is excited, happy, like in a big celebration mood and what I love the most is watching everyone’s outfits, so cool and creative, that you never get bored.

DAY 1

Stylekeepers Navy Dot Maxi (sold out but similar here and  affordable here ) Louise & Cie Boots. / Cowboy belt (similar here ) CARTIER Bucket bag (similar here and affordable here)

What I can tell you is that Sequins and metallics fabrics are a “most” next SS19! Obviously flowers are part of the season, but I was amazed of how the light was brought into almost every collection with these two materials, day wear and off course, night wear.

I started on Friday, since  unfortunately  I wasn’t able to go to the city on Thursday, too complicated with back to school.  First show that I attended was INDONESIAN DIVERSITY, composed by three different Indonesian designers. The show started with a traditional Indonesian  dance setting the tone with bright and bold colors. The collections were fulled with tunics with patchwork patterns, flower prints, leather carved pieces, puffed sleeves with black, red, beige, yellow and green as most of its main colors.

This leather jacket was a piece of art, but you can definitely wear it, same with the skirt. I loved the fact is a ready to wear fashion. I am in awe with every detail.

What I like about these collection is that is very representative of Indonesian fabrics style, but leaded to a modern and  everyday wear.

Since I wasn’t in front row (obviously LOL) my pictures aren’t that good, I will let you click on this link View full video of the show so you’ll be able to appreciate it properly.

The second show was AUSTRALIAN FASHION PALETTE, also a group of eleven designers from Australia. They were all extraordinary, but those two that I loved the most were:

  1. Bronx and Banco: They opened the show with floral prints and contrasting colours like bronze, mustards and metallic fabrics. If you think yellow and green doesn’t get together, they will prove you wrong. I can’t wait to create my own combinations inspired by this designer.

2. Daniel Alexander: his collection is titled DA of Oz, where the evil and good witch played the mayor role contrasting dark and light sequins outfits.

I Loved plastics garments and champagne sequined colour outfits, that I feel like in need to invent the occasion  just to be able to wear one of these haha; simply outrageous and so dramatic.

Third show that day,  AFFFAIR by designer Rufat Ismayilov: sequins, sequins and more sequins. it was all about ready to wear night gowns, all in black, gold, sparkly greens and more, a real delight!

It’s a very feminine collection with a mix of inspirations from East and West cultures. We could see big shoulder pads inspired by the eighties, asymmetries hems as well as shoulders and a mix of sequins and soft fabrics giving it a higher level of sophistication . It’s definitely ready to be worn to a very chic occasion.

DAY 2

I woke up pretty early to attend the CUSTO BARCELONA show. Is not only that I am mad in love with his After the Sun collection , but I also got to get better pictures as I was lucky to be seated at the front row, yeiii!

PINKO TOP (similar here and affordable hereKnit skirt (similar here affordable here ) White booties similar here and affordable here. GUCCI Bag (affordable here ).

It’s all about Metallic fabrics with sequins, brilliant textures, specially silver and a lot of neon. The idea with this collection is to dress for summer nights ready to party until the sunrise with tons of shorts dresses and daring swimsuits.

I as said, I really enjoyed this show for its  avant garden pieces. It invites us to wear it and feel immediately empowered.

After that, I enjoyed with some friends the rest of a series of 3 shows organised by THE OXFORD FASHION STUDIOS who supports a collective of independent designers from over 70 countries.

The designers created with the idea of inspiring their public with new notions and concepts of fashion.

Among them, were WHY MARY, an australian based label known for its fusion of artistic fabric style and easy to wear choices.

METICULOUSLY EXCENTRIC created by Andreya Taylor, a Seattle designer that describes herself as “Vibrant, creative and funkadelic soul” and is exactly what we can find in her creations. I loved the bold colours and fringed garments.

MEGAN CANNINGS with her collection Cocktails and romance: designs that speak by itself with tulle, ruffles and feathers, lovely and very soft palette.

VICTORIA TISZA is a Budapest based designer that combines a futuristic edge with a conscious use of materials, like in this collection with moulded silicone rubber in yellow, black and white.

DAY 3

Look: JUICY COUTURE SKIRT (similar hereH&M Top (it’s on sale for 4.99) /  Mellow Yellow Loafers (similar herePRADA mini chain bag (similar here and affordable here)

My day began with MARCEL OSTERTAG show; this German designer just nailed it! His collection, called MUSE is inspired by the 70’s art, music and fashion, but so fresh and modern, that you can’t help but just love it. He really master this art like a king!

The main colours were Lavender, blues, nudes, yellows and oranges, all presented in an absolute harmony. What really fascinated me the most was how he married sequins (yes another designer who showcase them) with sheer embroidery and fringes, simply to die for and so ready to be worn, that you’ll wish is already SS19.

Since I am a fan of fringes I couldn’t help but wanted desperately to own one of the fringes boots we saw on the runway! Soo classy…

My pictures don’t make justice to this beautiful show, so make sure to click  here  to see the entire collection.

Later that afternoon I went to DAKUN X LIU YONG a street style collection inspired by Taoism, one of the most powerful cultures in Asia.

The collection is a mix between history and the latest trends. The main collars are red, black, military green, as well as dark grey. It is all about layering with luxurious coats over edgy pants, blazers ensembles with bermudas and cool bags.

To have an idea and since my pictures weren’t of any good quality that day cuz I didn’t bring my camera, IO rather leave you this video.

That was really a very COOL collection, perfect for Millennials to hit the streets all over the world.

Telling you how much I enjoyed Fashion week is not enough! I had a blast watching all the collections; discovering what would be next Spring/Summer 19′ tendency was so exciting! From now, I can tell you to be prepared to eyed sequins and metallics all over! Sheer plastics coats, fringes will still steal our hearts and flowers prints will continue to adorn maxis and blazers. Pastels, plaids, red, camel and nude will conquer our wardrobes. It promise to be a very fun and cheerfull season.

While waiting for it, lets have fun with this Fall season! cant wait to share with you all the latest trends!
